What is Yoga for You?
I teach a unique combination of Meridian Yoga and Scaravelli Yoga. My experience as a teacher of Qigong also influences my way of teaching.
Meridian Yoga focuses on the pathways in your body that carry energy, Qi or Prana. Gentle visualisations, imagery, breathing and movement work with your meridian system to enhance your health and wellbeing.
Meridian Yoga helps to activate your parasympathetic nervous system - the part of you that promotes relaxation.
Scaravelli Yoga helps you to unwind physically, by releasing the tension in the deeper tissues of your body, including your fascia or connective tissue. Rather than engaging your muscles and bodily systems in strenuous movement which acts as a distraction from what you are experiencing, it encourages you to be with your own internal experience, not judging or condemning, but accepting yourself in a spirit of kindness and compassion. You become your own benign witness.
With practise this form of mindful movement will allow you to open up and rediscover the innate wisdom of your body. It is an opportunity for exploration. You will begin to trust that your body can reconnect to its own intelligence, becoming aware of the soft power of breath and buoyancy and your relationship with gravity.
Your practice will become, lighter, softer, easier, the fruits of a greater freedom.
